This year, Schachclub 1961 König Nied will again be present at the yearly Nieder Stadtteilfest. Beside providing information about our club, we offer our visitors the opportunity to play some games or have the rules explained to them. For the first time, we will be promoting go in addition to chess as well.

After the traditional rapid chess tournament in Nied had to be called off due to scheduling conflicts, this year's edition, scheduled to a new date in May, saw 32 players finding their way to the Saalbau Nied. This added up to a doubling of the participants compared to the negative record set in 2022.

After a hiatus of one year, our traditional rapid chess tournament in memory of our honorary president Willi Ellenberger will be held on May 5th 2024 at the Saalbau Nied. End of registration will be at 10:30 am. We would be very glad about a numerous attendance!

And so it came to pass in the year of the Lord 2024, on the eleventh day of the first month, that the first go players found themselves in the realm of Schachclub 1961 König Nied at the Saalbau.
